This stunning Ford Escort RS Cosworth visited us recently after some light restoration work. Our Boston branch carried out a full four-wheel alignment to fast-road standards.

1996 Ford Escort RS Cosworth

Is there anything better than a 1990s Fast Ford? Particularly the 3 door Ford Escort RS Cosworth. Once the most stolen car in Britain, a favourite for getaway drivers and joyriders in the 90s. There are not many faster ways in real world driving to get from A-B than these, even 30 years later. Built on the framework of the fifth generation Escort, this ‘rally car for the road’ was born out of the World Rally Homologation Program. The iconic “whale tail” rear spoiler is the most familiar view to most, as you mainly see the rear of these cars as they come past you on a country road. Developed by Cosworth for Ford, the 1993cc, 2.0L in line four engine is highly tuneable, it has 224bhp from factory, but with many examples being enhanced, some even up to over 1000bhp. All that power is delivered to the road through a 5-speed manual gearbox and permanent, rear wheel bias, four-wheel drive. Having visited Boston depot directly from a visit to a Bodyshop, this car still had some of the workshop dust on it after the modern classic had a light refresh to keep it maintained to the highest standard. This example is one of the last cars built, production ending in the January of 1996. Just over 7000 cars were built in total, that makes this one of the rarest cars you are likely to see.

Four Wheel Alignment

Accurate wheel alignment can be the difference between winning or losing a race. A properly setup car is not only important for racing but also for your daily driven car as well. This is especially important after any suspension or restoration work. A properly aligned car will grip better and prolong the life of your tyres. Along with correct pressures, alignment helps to ensure your car performs as the makers intended.  Correct alignment and regular pressure checks can also help save you money on your fuel bills. We use the most up to date 3D digital alignment machines, available at all our locations. These machines are calibrated regularly to ensure the highest standards are achieved. Before every car is aligned, we also carry out a check of all the major suspension components. This ensures the best results every time.

Tyre manufacturers recommend checking your cars alignment every 6 months or 5000 miles to ensure the best results. This should be done along with your monthly pressure checks. These checks are all available free of charge at all our locations.

If your car has had suspension or restoration work carried out recently and you would like to take advantage of our FREE alignment checks. Please call into one of our local branches, you will get the best advice on the setup options for your vehicle.
