TOYO TIRES with Ring Racing 2023 Participation in Endurance Races at Nürburgring

Article written by Bush Tyres

Hyogo, Japan – March 15, 2023 – Toyo Tire Corporation (Headquarters: Itami City, Hyogo Prefecture; President & CEO: Takashi Shimizu; hereinafter, "Toyo Tire") announces that it will participating in the Nürburgring 24 Hours (The ADAC TotalEnergies 24h Nürburgring), which will take place from May 18 to 21, 2023, and the Nürburgring Endurance Series (Nürburgring Langstrecken Serie), a year-long series competition that is to open on March 17, 2023, both races will be held in Nürburgring, Germany.

The Nürburgring 24 Hours is known as one of the world’s most demanding endurance races, while the Nürburgring Endurance Series comprises nine races with varying lengths from 4 to 12 hours and is often entered by drivers participating in the Nürburgring 24 Hours to familiarize themselves with the course or test their skills. Located in Nürburg, Rhineland-Palatinate, Germany, Nürburgring is a 25-km-long circuit featuring the Grand Prix track (approximately 5 km) and the Nordschleife ("North Loop," approximately 20 km). The North Loop, in particular, is known for numerous challenges for drivers, including a 300m elevation change and more than 170 corners. As such, lap time*1 on the course serves as a performance indicator for vehicles and tires, with the result that many auto manufacturers and tire manufacturers view the event as an opportunity to enhance the performance of their products.

This year again, Toyo Tire is participating this prestigious race with Ring Racing, an experienced racing team that has tied up with some of the world’s leading auto manufacturers with numerous prize winners. Takayuki Kinoshita who was appointed as the PROXES Brand Ambassador this January, will join the team as one of the drivers for 2023 seasons. Toyo Tire will provide its PROXES Slicks (with special specifications for Nürburgring), a racing tyre developed exclusively for TOYOTA GR Supra GT4, in a bid to win the championship in the SP10*2 class of the 2023 races.

Toyo Tire will continue feeding the data and experience gained through participation in motorsports activities back to the product development process in an effort to deliver high-quality high-performance tyres.
