2022 Mercedes G- Class AMG G63 4MATIC
This 2022 second generation W463 first introduced in 2018 G-Class is no ordinary SUV. The G-Wagen, Geländewagen, or “all-terrain vehicle” have come a long way from the pre 1979 military use. New models are more luxury limousine these days than simple ‘farm trucks’ with only utility in mind. The new cars offer supercar performance, from the mighty M177 4.0L twin turbo charged V8. This car develops over 577bhp and 627 Lb Ft of torque. The power is then transferred through a Daimler AG Jatco built 9 speed automatic transmission and delivered to the road or mud through Mercedes own 4MATIC four-wheel drive system that is now 40:60 rear biased for a more engaging driver experience. 0-60mph takes just 4.4 seconds. Even with aerodynamics of a house brick, and the overall weight of a small village, it can still max out at just over 149mph.
This personalised G-Class has wider 22” wheels than the basic models and unique side exit exhausts you don’t see on many production cars. It has revised suspension by AMG and larger brakes with bright red calipers. This vehicle has come from the Mercedes Manufaktur Program, Mercedes in house design service that allows for personalisation through individual craftmanship, exclusive colours, and custom upholstery. The car being painted in the Dark Olive Green. This exclusive process leaves owners with what is then often a ‘1 of 1’ example. Giving their owners what Mercedes like to refer to as a “timeless allure”.
Pirelli Scorpion ZERO Asimmetrico MO1
The Scorpion family of tyres from Pirelli is built for the most demanding off-road vehicles in the world. The range is comprised of designs including, all season, winter, on and off-road patterns.
Chosen by Mercedes as Original Equipment for the AMG G63, this Scorpion Zero tyre carries the ‘MO1’ marking to confirm its suitability as part of the homologation program. The Scorpion was born in 1986 when Pirelli were asked to produce a high performance tyre capable of both on and off road driving for Lamborghini, their first off-road vehicle, the “LM002”. It wasn’t long after the Scorpion appeared in the world of motorsport, the Scorpion was fitted to many Porsche, Nissan, and Lamborghini off-road cars in the Paris Dakar rally, 1988. The newer Scorpion ZERO Asimmetrico pattern has a Z-profile design to improve traction and braking safety. This modern take on the Scorpion is more road based, with high performance in mind. It has a continuous central rib to help increase tyre life and features continuous longitudinal block profiles and compact shoulder blocks to improve precise high-speed performance and control. It is homologated for not only Mercedes but also Audi and Tesla, it can be fitted to any high performance cross over or SUV.
