Bushmobile Supply & Fit Truck Tubes For Historic WW2 Bus and Planet Tractor

Article written by Bush Tyres

Our Bushmobile team had a slightly unusual job recently when they were called to the Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre, an aviation museum in East Kirkby, to work on not one but two historic wartime vehicles.

The team fitted a new 900×16 Truck Tube to this WW2 Fordson WOT1 Crew Bus – the only one of its kind known in existence!

They then fitted a new 600×9 Truck Tube on this Tug. The Tug is a Planet Tractor which is again very rare, and before being given to the museum was used at Butlins where they had fitted a train style body over it. It has since been ‘re-engined’ over time and now has a Lister engine in it. The Tug has been static and unused for 20 years but amazingly started without any assistance last week!

The Lincolnshire Aviation Heritage Centre is a family run museum set up over 20 years ago and is now seen as a living memorial to the 55,500 men of Bomber Command who lost their lives during WW2.  It holds one of the rarest aircraft, an Avro Lancaster Bomber, in its collection along with many wartime vehicles. The Museum is built up entirely around RAF Bomber Command but the exhibits and displays span many areas such as The Home Front and Escape and Evasion, giving a wide perspective on wartime Britain and the trials and tribulation of the Second World War.
