Is That a 74-z Speeder Bike?

Our Bush Tyres Long Sutton depot which is just a few parsecs from the outer rim recently had a highly unusual visitor from a galaxy ‘far far away.’ It turns out even hover bikes get punctures from time to time. It didn’t take long for our team of intergalactic tyre experts to get this Aratech Repulsor Company Speeder Bike 74-Z back on the road / air.

Early one morning an extraordinary vehicle arrived  in branch for a replacement tyre due to a having a blowout on the way to a comic con event.  The force was strong with this one and the speeder bike was returned to action in no time. This example was hand built by the owner and is an exact replica of the vehicles used throughout the many Star Wars films and TV series.

The bike uses mirrors to hide the wheels in the same way the ‘screen- used’ vehicles did, giving the illusion of hovering. Way back in 1977 this was space age technology, the very early days of Computer-Generated-Imagery (CGI) from the now infamous Lucasfilm and Industrial Light and Magic (ILM).

According to ‘Wookiepedia’ the 74-Z Speeder Bike was used by the Galactic Republic during the Clone Wars and the later Imperial Army, notably at the Battle of Endor. (The native planet of the Ewoks).

Scout troopers AP-1982 and JS-1975 of Moff Gideon’s Imperial Remnant used two white 74-Z speeder bikes on the planet Nevarro to acquire Grogu. One of these bikes would later be used shortly after by the assassin droid IG-11 to protect Grogu and attack Gideon and his forces. Three decades after the Battle of Endor, 74-Z speeder bikes could be found on the black market  if your knew where to look.
