My MOT is due autumn 2021, do I need to book early?
Article written by Bush TyresLast year, to aid the Covid-19 lockdown, the UK Government and the Driver and Vehicle Standards Agency (DVSA) granted an MOT extension. This meant anyone who’s MOT was due between 30th March and 31st July 2020 had it automatically extended by six months.
This six-month extension began to expire in the autumn of 2020 which led to October and November 2020 being extremely busy for garages and MOT testing centres as the country played catch-up. MOT testers saw almost twice the usual demand for MOTs!
Due to this, we are likely to see a knock-on effect in autumn 2021. We are anticipating a high demand for MOT testing again over the next few months which could potentially cause a bit of a backlog across the UK. With this in mind, we are recommending people book their MOTs slightly earlier than usual to guarantee an appointment. If you are unsure when your MOT is due, you can check the date your MOT is due here.
It is also good to note: You can get an MOT up to a month (minus a day) before it runs out and keep the same renewal date.
If your MOT is due over the next few months, contact one of our MOT testing centres to book your MOT in advance. We have MOT testing centres in Hull (Hull – Spring Bank and Hull – Endyke), Lincoln and Norwich.
