BMW iX xDrive40 M SPORT
Released in 2021, this latest 5dr Sports Activity Vehicle (SAV) from BMW is a full electric vehicle (EV) and represents the latest incarnation of this ever-popular category. Its futuristic design and technology make it one of the current flagships of the BMW electric range.
Similar in length to the more well know BMW X5, its lower profile is more like an X6, and it has a similar footprint to the ginormous BMW X7. It features the latest innovations for all electric driving, including automated self-driving options and enhanced connectivity.
The car is available in xDrive40 or iX xDrive50, the 50 delivers over 493hp and propels the car from 0-62mph in under 5 seconds. The entire range features the BMW xDrive electronic four-wheel drive system. The range is a claimed 373 miles or 249 in the xDrive40.
This is sports car levels of performance from a family sized SAV.
Pirelli P-Zero ELECT Tyres
Seen here on the iX in 275/40ZR22 front and rear. The tyres carry the 107Y load and speed index along with the XL marking for Extra Load.
The Pirelli P-Zero ELECT also carries the BMW * star marking. This shows the tyre was developed in direct collaboration with BMW and Pirelli to produce a tyre that will work perfectly with this specific car. This process is referred to as homologation.
Pirelli also make an approved winter variation for this car the Winter PZero ELECT is also star marked and XL suitable for this new generation EV.
The tyre carries the ELECT™ marking on the sidewall. This identifies the tyre was specifically developed for high performance electric and plug-in vehicles, in line with Pirelli’s Perfect Fit Strategy. The tyres also feature the PIRELLI NOISE CANCELLING SYSTEM™ (PNCS).
This technology can reduce the noise inside the vehicle by up to 50%. Thanks to a sound absorbing device applied to the inside circumferential wall of the tyre.
