Rare Bridgestone Potenza RE050A Scuderia Tyres sourced for an incredible Ferrari Enzo

Our purchasing team was recently set the challenge to source some extremely rare tyres for this very exclusive and exotic Hyper Car. The magnificent Ferrari Enzo, one of only 400 ever produced.

The Ferrari Enzo

Originally Ferrari planned only 399 Enzo to be produced. They eventually did produce a 400th Ferrari Enzo. This was gifted to Pope John Paul II by Ferrari and subsequently auctioned off to eventually raise over $6m for the victims of the tsunami that devastated large parts of Southeast Asia in 2005.

The car was inscribed by the Pope under the front compartment. The passage reads “This Enzo, unique in the history of Ferrari, as a sign of solidarity for those who suffer, inspired by a great Pope John Paul II.” (translated from Italian)

The Enzo is still regarded as one of the finest Ferrari’s ever made and was produced using all the latest technology from F1 at the time. A full carbon Fibre body, F1 automated manual transmission and Carbon Ceramic brakes to name a few. The Enzo had an ‘all new’ V12 based off the design of the V8 found in the Maserati Quattroporte.  The 6.0L unit produces over 651bhp and an incredible 657Nm of Torque. It also had a screaming rev limit of 8200rpm. This results in the Enzo getting to 60mph in 3.14 seconds and on to a top speed of 221mph.

Our purchasing team had their work cut out on this job. Bridgestone Europe no longer list these tyres as available for their dealer network. The team had to look further; a global search began. Through our international network of trade partners and utilising long established connections Bush Tyres has within the global tyre industry. The team were able to source a brand-new full set of Bridgestone Potenza RE050A Scuderia Tyres for the owner.

These tyres are only produced in small batches and made specifically for fitment on the Ferrari Enzo. With only 400 cars produced, they are not a very common size or pattern. Suitable alternatives don’t really exist for the 245/35ZR19 (89Y) Front and the super wide 345/35ZR19 (110Y) Rear.

This specific set was not for the Pope’s former Enzo, but an equally rare UK car that has benefitted the same ownership since new.
