This Mercedes AMG GTR came into our Grimsby depot for a pair of rear 325/30ZR20 Michelin Pilot Sport Cup2 in the incredible AMG Green Hell Magno.
Mercedes AMG GT R – Green Hell Magno
There is no mistaking this 2017 GT R Premium from the standard AMG GT. This car earned its nickname as "The Beast of the Green Hell" after locals had seen it tested there. This specific example stands out from the crowd with its brilliant choice of colour – AMG Green Hell Magno. The colour, inspired by the infamous nickname given to the Nurburgring – THE GREEN HELL or Grüne Hölle. The name was created by the legendary Sir Jackie Stewart. After his win there, during difficult conditions in 1968, he declared it as one of the most challenging places on Earth to drive. The GT R has a huge carbon fibre rear wing and active aero help hold the car to the road as power is increased over the standard car. This model has a 577bhp 4.0 Litre, twin turbo V8, with all power going directly to the rear wheels.
Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2
With all that power– there was only really one choice of tyre for Mercedes-AMG, the Michelin Pilot Sport Cup 2. This tyre is a Street Legal Track Tyre exclusively developed for Fast Road and track use. This helps give the Mercedes-AMG GT R excellent grip and control, but also longevity and endurance under extremeconditions. All leading toward the ultimate driver experience. The tyre even helped this car break the Nurburgring lap record on its release with an incredible time of 7:10.09, over 24 seconds faster than the GT S it replaced. The rear tyres for this car is more than 1" wider than the standard AMG GT, a massive 325mm! This particular tyre also carries the MO marking, meaning it was specifically developed in conjunction with Michelin and AMG for use on Mercedes cars.
Cup 2 R – AMG ONE
The Mercedes-AMG ONE Hypercar is now being delivered to customers around the world, bringing Formula 1 technology to the road. For its tyres, Mercedes-AMG turned again to its partners at Michelin for the ultimate version of its already fantastic Cup 2 Tyre. The Cup 2 R was developed with AMG in partnership, to maximise the road going performance of their new flagship model.
