This rare late 2003 GT Four example of Toyota’s popular Celica model visited Scunthorpe Branch for a four-wheel alignment adjustment. Birth of a Legend

The Toyota Celica model has been around now since the first model (A20, A30) began production in 1970. The car, aimed primarily at the American market as a direct response to the ever-popular segment defining Ford Mustang. The Toyota Celica GT Four model was first seen in the fifth generation (T180) model.

The model was part of the FIA WRC Group A homologation, 5000 units were named GT Four RC and released in Japan in 1991. The export models were known as the Carol Sainz editions in the UK, Europe, and Singapore. By 1993 the Toyota Celica was now on its sixth generation (T200). Finally released in 1994 the Celica was available as a notchback coupe, liftback and there was even a convertible version released later in this series.

The GT Four model continued into this generation and was available in Japanese, Australian and European markets. This ST205 model was the most powerful model to date, featuring 239hp from its updated 3S-GTE engine.  The success of Toyota in Europe with the World rally championship continued to inspire generations of owners to buy these cars.

The design team continued to add features from the WRC car to the production models and noticeably this model received an all-aluminium bonnet, advanced ABS and an improved Turbo charger.

Four Wheel Alignment

Its great to see a custom finished example like this Toyota Celica GT4 in its non-original, but iconic Bayside Blue colour. This colour is one of the most iconic colours in the Japanese Domestic Market (JDM). Made even more popular by the fast and furious movie franchise. As well as caring for the car to this level cosmetically, it’s great to see the owner also placing importance on the mechanical aspects of the car.

With the Celica’s suspension setting checked over by our alignment specialists for any suspension issues. These checks include checking signs of irregular tyre wear, play in suspension bushes or work joints.

Once checked the imaging targets were placed on the wheels of the Toyota Celica for 3D scanning of the suspension set up. The measurements were checked against the factory specifications stored in the machine. The car can then have adjustments made to suit the owner’s requirements. In this case, after discussing with the owner, the team chose a fast-road setup.

The setup will also help reduce any unwanted vibrations or shaking as well as help reduce fuel consumption and improve the overall safety of the car under extreme acceleration and braking which is just what you’d want know when driving this Toyota Celica GT4.
