Wheel Alignment for Hot Hatch Royalty – Renault Clio Williams 2
Article written by Bush TyresOne of an original run of 482 UK Renault Clio Williams 2’s came to our Horncastle branch for a full wheel alignment check and adjustment.
Produced in 1994/95, the Renault Clio Williams 2 featured larger, more rounded bump strips than that of its predecessor the Clio Williams 1, more rounded rear lights and a boot strip to match, Renault and Clio badges on the tailgate, a colour coded grill and revised Williams stickers. Only 482 were manufactured for the UK market!
The ‘hot hatch’ also visited our Horncastle branch last year to have a full set of 195/50VR15 Michelin Pilot Sport 3‘s fitted, and with not many cars like this left on the road today, it was a pleasure to see the car back in our depot once again.
The team were able to use our sophisticated alignment machines which allow us to check and adjust caster, camber and toe settings on almost any vehicle!
Of course, with the recent sad news about the passing of Sir Frank Williams, it feels only right to remember that the Renault Clio Williams was originally created to celebrate the title won by the Williams-Renault Formula One team in the 1992 season. This celebratory version of the iconic Clio referenced the stable founded by Sir Frank Williams through the metallic "Sports Blue" exterior paint and the Speedline wheels painted in gold as well as the Williams logo on the sides and on the tailgate. This special version of the Renault Clio featured a 2 litre naturally aspirated engine with 4 valves per cylinder and multipoint injection derived from the original Clio 1.8 16v, capable of delivering 147 hp of maximum power.
