This is a simple guide explaining OE tyre markings and tyre symbols.
Many tyres feature a mark or “tyre symbols” demonstrating the partnership between a vehicle manufacturer and a tyre manufacturer on the design of a tyre that best suits the vehicle.

Tyre Symbols & OE Tyre Markings
This ‘stamp of approval’ confirms the tyre was designed and tested by both the car and tyre manufacturer in the factory process known as homologation.
Generally, it is recommended to have the specific tyre fitment designed for your vehicle, but it is not always essential. Our trained tyre technicians can advise on the best tyres for your car, whether it’s for an OE car manufacturer approved tyre or not. Often different tyre fitments can also cross-over to different vehicles, our team will be able to advise.
